Live on BBC Radio Wiltshire

Big Brush Club Project Facilitator Alisha was live on BBC radio Wiltshire for National Smile Month discussing supervised toothbrushing and why it is important.

It’s been a busy month for Big Brush Club across the board, with uptake of schools continuing to increase on a daily basis. We have 875 schools currently brushing to Bobs song, equating to many thousands of children taking part in this potentially life-changing programme.

Three of our Project Facilitators last month, Jermaine, Chantelle and Alisha, attended Silverwood School which has three special educational  sites for in Wiltshire. The had a rewarding day delivering oral health education and support to all the staff and children and ran a parents evening seminar.

Chantelle delivered our first competition prize to Fair Furlong for their amazing display board entry in our ongoing competition for schools. Engagement is strong and it is lovely to be able to reward efforts of oral health promotion within the school.

We had an exciting action-packed day of filming videos to be used for training, marketing and our website. Abi, Lily, Anna and Clare worked with videographer Dan to put together the content. The staff and children at school were very enthusiastic to promote the Big Brush Club. We can’t wait to share with you the end product.

Project facilitators Lily and Sarah went to Playbox Nursery in Plymouth on the 23rd May to deliver oral health education to the parents and also engage the children in all things oral health too by providing dental-themed books to read, colouring sheets and toothbrushing dental models (with shaving foam toothpaste!). Parents, guardians, childminders and nursery staff all praised how well the day went and also how much they learned, with key relationships between the Big Brush Team and Plymouth being forged from this visit.
