Supervised toothbrushing uptake strong

Uptake of supervised toothbrushing is continuing strongly as we are now in the final term of the school year.

Big Brush Club, currently operating across all regions in the Southwest, delivers weekly training webinars to school and nursery staff who plan to implement supervised toothbrushing in their setting. To date, we have an impressive 1259 staff now fully trained as Oral Health Champions able to implement supervised toothbrushing in their classroom.

We continue to offer Oral Health Education talks at schools, with over 200 of these having taken place since we launched the programme. Did you know that a snail has 25,000 teeth? This is a fun fact which awes children and teachers alike during our oral health education sessions aimed at EYFS children.

This month has seen a number or large stock deliveries to our storage unit in Totnes, including toothbrushes, toothpaste, toothbrush racks and more. Our team packages this up to send out to schools across the region. Hundreds of schools across the Southwest have now received their brushing supply pack and are implementing supervised toothbrushing in the classroom.

Our Big Brush Club website is packed with resources for schools to download and gives information about the programme, why it is important and how it works in the classroom. Do look at our Online Resources page which contains an abundance of information about implementation, oral health resources, colouring sheets and more!

April saw the launch of our Display Board competition and it is motivating and exciting to see the photos coming in of how schools are promoting Big Brush Club within their classrooms.

Our Big Brush Club toothbrushing song, written and performed by our very own dentist Bob, is a hit in classrooms and homes across the Southwest! If you haven’t had a listen yet, we highly recommend that you do! Click here to listen to Bob’s ‘Brush, Brush, Brush’ song.
